Three Shows, Two Days

June 13, 2010

Well…it was more like 2.5 shows in two days.

The Red Devil Lounge was our first stop on Thursday night. It was our first time there, along with 49 Special and the Steve Pile Band. The MVP of the night was Barrett, the sound man.

Friday afternoon, the guys played a FREE SHOW at Cafe Azul in Santa Rosa, CA. After roughly a 30-minute set, we had it call it quits to go scour for Landon’s insulin which he left in the park. Thank you, Santa Rosa PD for returning it.

Lastly, it was a special treat to play at a rad place like Sophia’s Thai Kitchen in Davis, CA with It’s True and The Parson Red Heads. Everyone at the venue was super nice and great to work with. I want to go back…right now.

Sold out at Bottom of the Hill!

May 24, 2010

The Whiskey boys were fortunate to get a Friday night slot of Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. They played with The Heligoats and Clem Snide. The place was packed- SOLD OUT!

Let’s Rock for California!

April 1, 2010

On March 1st, I submitted an idea to Pepsi’s Refreshing Everything grant program. The idea is taken from a tour I was a part of called, Rock for Water. For a video, click HERE.

As of 3 o’clock this morning, Pepsi approved my grant request and it is available for DAILY voting until the end of April. As this grant is required to be spent in the US (as opposed to digging wells in southern Sudan), I thought partnering with Missions and homeless shelters in various cities throughout the state to promote a fundraising show (artist TBA) was a fine idea.

So…if you want to help fight homelessness throughout California, please follow this LINK and vote daily. We all can truly make a difference. If you would like to help with our tour, aptly name- Rock for California, please let  me know!

Can you give us a kick…start?

March 29, 2010

After 5+ years of supporting this label with my own personal income, Romanced has the opportunity to become self-sustaining. Kickstarter is a FANTASTIC tool to help creative ideas reach fruition. For us, we’re utilizing it to fund the packaging and release of the new LP from The Whiskey and the Devil Chaplain.

When you support us, you get first dibs on all of the upcoming merch (including a 7″, shirts, and the album itself) from The Whiskey and the Devil Chaplain. The best way to explain it is to have you check it out. Just click HERE, watch the video, and check out all of the great things you can get for your hard-earned money!

My wife and I, as well as the band, truly appreciate your support.

Sally Loo’s (Amazing) Wholesome Cafe

March 14, 2010
tags: ,

Last night The Whiskey played to a packed out room. Literally. I could barely move. I was practically sitting in a woman’s lap as I ran the sound board. At least we know each other. It could have been truly uncomfortable sitting that close to a stranger.

Keith Crain (banjo) opened with three songs- two originals which I HIGHLY recommend you listen to. You can listen to them on his Facebook, HERE.

Prior to the show, my wife, daughter and I passed out flyers as we walked around downtown San Luis. One group of kids had neither heard of Sally Loo’s nor The Whiskey. But when I told them the guys had opened for Langhorne Slim…they cleared their schedules. One of them taped almost the whole set from the back of the room. I hope that means he was impressed. I know everyone else was.

WDC at Hotel Cafe – March 3rd

March 8, 2010

I had a great time accompanying the guys to their Hotel Cafe show last Wednesday. We arrived in rain and to the beautiful sound of Amber Rubarth. None of us had ever heard of her but we all thoroughly enjoyed her music. I recommend it.

After a quick set-up, the boys played a great set for the remaining diehards enjoying their 11:30pm Wednesday night slot. Special thanks to Megan and Julian for coming from Bakersfield!
